Maximize the effectiveness of a Golf Instruction Video
Golf instruction videos featuring techniques and tips from leading world class teachers are very common these days. Still there are very few people who can claim to have had their games improved by a golf instruction video.
So here are three tips to help you ensure that you reap maximum fruits from every golf instruction video that you ever get to watch.
1) Watch the golf instruction video several times. Sounds simple I know
Some people watch golf instruction videos to try and get a single Magic tip that will revolutionize their game. Good Luck! In golf there is no such thing as the “easy button.” Instead focus your video search on a major pain point in your game you want to improve. Become obsessed and find a communication style from a teacher that fits the way you like to learn. There are many youtube videos out there.
This is why it is very important to watch the video several times. Watch the video, become obsessed with your craft. Focus on one element of the video before moving to the next part of your game.
2) Get video shots of yourself playing and compare your posture and positioning to what you see in the golf instruction video. Would advise if at all possible to have a friend video you on the range versus on the course for pace of play reasons. The key is when taking the videos to ensure the angles are close to the same angles as the videos you see instructors using online.
For instance, the best angles when filming are perpendicular to your set up position. This angle is call “face on.” The other angle is parallel to your target and body lines also known as “down the line.” Once you get the proper angles, it is always important to find a Professional Golfer with the similar body type (height and weight). You can then compare various angles and movements in your swing versus their swing.
3) There are so many variables to the golf swing, that although you are able to video and capture a lot from today’s technology it is still important to work with your Golf Instructor/PGA Professional. Sometimes too much information can lead to paralysis of the analysis
